Side Scan Sonar Survey

A survey in which fixed acoustic beams are directed into the water perpendicularly to the direction of survey vessel/boat travel. This is done by towing a so called “Tow Fish” to scan and generate a record of the seabed surface. Seabed features such as sand, debris, geological outcrops, shipwreck, underwater pipeline etc. are quite commonly chartable.

Application: Marine Construction, Marine Research & Studies, Salvage Operation, Harbour Improvement, Submarine Pipeline/Cable Installation.
