Current meter is an oceanographic device for flow measurements of ocean currents done using several possible ways, among them are mechanical (rotor current meter), tilt (Tilt Current Meter), Acoustical (ADCP) and electrical sensing based devices. Data from current meter is essential for most of the hydrographic studies.
The process of acquiring speed and direction of water current by the use of a Current Meter. Normally observations are carried out during Spring and Neap session at certain time interval over different levels of water depths. The readings are either logged on the control display unit (CDU) or manually booked. Current speed and direction against time of observation shall be presented as vector plots.
Application: Marine Construction, Marine Research & Studies, Submarine Pipeline/Cable Installation, Diving Operations.
